Dust by calmyafarm Dust by calmyafarm
for uni...its just silly

Thanks so much for the DD! And to anyone who passes by. My gallery doesn't get looked at heaps so this is pretty exciting for me :)

UPDATE:
Wowzas I am not used to so many people looking at one piece of art! thanks guys!!
In answer to some repeated questions:
I didn't eat the bread after. I actually work in a bakery, so they chuck out heaps of bread at the end of each day. I was asked to create some typography representing my experiences in the week by uni, so I figured I'd take some of the wasted bread home with me and carve a word out of it.
"Dust" represents how I feel at the end of the day... crummy!
I also really don't feel like eating bread after selling it to people all day, hence why the loaf went in the bin at the end of the experiment. (well it actually went mouldy in a box first, then I threw it out. Maybe I should've photographed it after the mould? meh)
the end
keep rocking
-Clare

Very good cuts, next time, if you ever try that again, you could fill the gaps and holes with some jelly :9

Great! this is the sort of thing you'd expect to see in digital art a lot but you've reminded people it may just be easier to carve it out of real bread :XD: way to make an otherwise mundane job look creative and interesting :D

but no, I didn't eat it... read the blurb for an explanation as to why I could have so much self control and not dig into the yumminess of this fresh loaf of bread :)

haha thanks! I love the idea of someone arguing over this!!
It can be art if you want it to be :) If she wants a definition, it was a design for a typography project. spontaneous art maybe?

spontaneous? maybe. unintended it is, i am definitely for sure. Because what you've meant by forming 'dust' wasn't the thing i found in it. it has a total different meaning for me. like in every art form we percieve with our own artistic awareness.
thanks anyway =) keep up the good work

first of all, it shines with warmness.
meaning of dust(particles) disappears, but the word's relations in subconscious emerges. dust brings 'cleaning' , cleaning brings 'sponge' where the texture of letters intersect (since it also looks like an old sponge).
basicaly it is organic material. being cut to form letters doesnt change the fact of it's raw-ness. you or bacteria will eat it eventually. so it feels alive or nutrient. well, it says 'DUST!' and this brings sponge, it connects one of your basic instincts (hunger) to one of your superego driven idea (cleanliness). that creates a unifying -and yet diverging- perception about yourself. stayin between human and ape. you stand between and look both ways.
like every art piece it's just a highway inside your head. in this one i can see where it comes from and where it goes to. this makes 'dust' different.
though it is just a caligraphy project it reminds me the pieces at bienals or modernart museums. and this brings another important questions: what the hell is art?
was the feeling i had created by coincidence? how much does your purpose value when you are creating something?
i think, i'll never find the answers.
